5 years, 11 months agoWe empower people and organizations to improve their sustainability through science-based solutions.
Emirates Nature–WWF is the leading non-profit organisation established to drive positive change in the United Arab Emirates to conserve the nation’s natural heritage.
Our vision is a sustainable UAE in which our society, economy and environment thrive side by side, enabling people to live in harmony with nature. Although there are substantial challenges ahead, we look to the future with optimism and believe that by working together we can drive change and create a sustainable future for all.
Partnerships are fundamental to our success. We place great value on our strategic collaboration with the UAE government, corporate stakeholders and civil society to achieve science-based solutions to combat climate change and safeguard the seas, the land and their associated biodiversity.
Our approach is grounded in science and backed by data, with work spanning across research and policy activities, community and corporate engagement, youth education and raising public awareness.
Founded in 2001 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Governing Board of the Environment Agency–Abu Dhabi, Emirates Nature–WWF has been a prominent and active partner in environmental conservation for over 17 years. We have a local board of directors and represent the global WWF network in the region, which has a 50-year legacy of environmental conservation and is supported by more than five million people worldwide.

Ecotourism continues to grow in the UAE, with strong implications for conservation.
Much of this tourism depends on healthy and diverse ecosystems, as well as associated biodiversity and wildlife - creating a strong case to drive the protection, restoration and sustainable management of natural ecosystems.
In this feature by The National News, our Director General Laila Mostafa Abdullatif emphasizes that the combination of conservation and ecotourism is key to maximizing ecosystem services. This was a key finding in our assessment of natural capital in the Umm Al Quwain lagoon, conducted as part of the Nature-based Solutions project in the UAE.

🌍 Driving the Future of Sustainable Mobility in the UAE! 🚗⚡
Our #UACA project lead Nicky Velani was honoured to be part of a distinguished panel at the 12th Clean Energy Business Council MENA Annual Summit to discuss the transformative potential of sustainable mobility in the region.
On the panel, Nicky Velani presented compelling insights from UACA's Road2.0 initiative, which was launched at COP28 and supports the commercial EV landscape in the UAE:
🔹 Commercial vehicles account for over 10% of the UAE's total emissions — there is significant opportunity to make a tangible impact, both economically and also critically through emissions saved from transitioning to EVs.
🔹 Under Road2.0, UACA is committed to bringing ecosystem players together to bridge the gap between the commercial EV supply and private sector demand for scale.
🔹 In its first year, Road2.0 has already made its physical presence known, with 90 commercial EVs hitting UAE roads in 2024. The proof of concept has been proven!
🔹In 2025, the initiative will focus on scaling deployment of EVs, by leveraging insights from pilot projects launched by Road2.0 signatories — who operate a fleet of over 20,000 vehicles combined!
As the UAE pioneers innovative solutions to achieve a net-zero future in mobility, initiatives like Road2.0 are proof of what’s possible when public and private sectors come together for a common goal.
Stay tuned for more updates as we collectively drive towards a net-zero UAE! 🌱✨
