La Régie des Eaux de Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole est une entreprise publique, qui assure depuis le 1er janvier 2016, la gestion de l'eau potable et de l'eau brute. Depuis le 1er janvier 2023, la Régie assure également la gestion de l’assainissement collectif et non collectif. La Métropole de Montpellier a ainsi réaffirmé son attachement à une gestion publique de l'ensemble du petit cycle de l'eau.
La Régie, forte de ses 200 collaborateurs, s'investit au quotidien pour garantir un service public de qualité, renforcer la solidarité entre les usagers, en particulier avec la mise en œuvre de la tarification éco-solidaire et déployer un plan d'investissement massif en faveur de la préservation de la ressource en eau et de la lutte contre les pollutions dans un contexte marqué par le changement climatique.
La Régie produit et distribue 35 millions de m3 d'eau potable par an aux 414 000 habitants des 14 communes de son périmètre et investit pour l'entretien des 1350 kilomètres de réseaux et des 50 ouvrages de production et de stockage.
Concernant l'assainissement, la Régie gère la collecte et le traitement des eaux usées et son retour dans le milieu naturel sur l’ensemble du territoire métropolitain -les 31 communes et leurs 480 000 habitants- pour un volume annuel estimé à 36 millions de m3 d’eau traités. Le réseau est constitué de 1500 km de canalisations et de plus de 230 ouvrages à entretenir dont 13 stations d'épuration notamment MAERA, station pivot où sont collectées les eaux usées de 19 communes dont 14 communes de la Métropole.
