📣 News: Liquid Wind announces new eFuel facility project in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden!

The project will be carried out in close collaboration with Övik Energi AB as development partner and supplier of biogenic #CO2. The new site is planned to be one of Europe's largest facilities for the production of #eFuels, with an estimated capacity of 100,000 t eMethanol per year.

“We see a very strong desire from customers and fuel users to transition to sustainable fuels, something our facility in Örnsköldsvik will contribute significantly to. Our new eFuel project is already underway, and we are looking forward to bringing it to reality”, says Claes Fredriksson, CEO and founder of Liquid Wind.

The Swedish government has tasked the Swedish Energy Agency with proposing the design of support to promote #shipping's use of #FossilFree energy carriers.

"Shipping is facing a challenging transition. To replace fossil fuels and meet the coming great need for fossil-free fuels, such as eMethanol, production must start scaling up now. The current European regulatory framework has so far proved insufficient to generate the necessary investments. Therefore, it is gratifying that Sweden is now taking the first steps towards a national policy instrument that can facilitate the climate transition of Swedish shipping", says Claes Fredriksson, founder and CEO of Liquid Wind.

For Sweden, domestic #eFuel production presents an opportunity to combine the climate transition in hard-to-abate sectors like shipping with export opportunities, strengthened industrial competitiveness and increased security of supply.
