🌍 Today I had the opportunity to present the #UrbanSquare Use Case of the DestinE Platform at the event “Destination Earth: What it is and what it can offer to local digital twins”, hosted by Living in EU 🏙️ and promoted by Eurocities 🌐.

🛰️ DestinE is a flagship initiative of the European Commission, implemented by European Space Agency - ESA, European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts - ECMWF, and EUMETSAT, to build a digital twin of the Earth that supports climate adaptation, sustainability, and evidence-based decision-making.

🌆 UrbanSquare, developed by Murmuration, Mozaika, SISTEMA GmbH, and Imperative Space, uses DestinE’s data and simulations to help cities assess and plan for climate-related challenges like heatwaves, floods, and sea level rise.

🤝 The event brought together local governments and city planners interested in how digital twins can help build smarter, greener, and more resilient urban futures.

🎤 I was glad to represent Starion, the prime contractor coordinating the DestinE Use Cases on behalf of ESA.

Our engineering team recently had the opportunity to travel to Malta for an in-depth visit of the territory. By observing its infrastructures, diverse landscapes, and overall environment, we gained valuable insights that strengthen the relevance and quality of our work.

🌍 This week started strong at European Geosciences Union (EGU) 2025. I had the pleasure to introduce the latest innovative indicators derived from EO-data that we integrated on the RACE Dashboard, and to show how they can be explored and understood through storytelling:
- Water Turbidity indicator produced by Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche
- Health-oriented urban heat and pollution indicator by Murmuration
