🌱 Sustainable Coatings with Biobased Furanic Monomers! 🌱
Excited to share our latest research on biodegradable UV-cured coatings, published in ACS Applied Polymer Materials! 🚀
In collaboration with Dumitru Moraru, Beatriz Chícharo, Giacomo Trapasso, Sami Fadlallah, Florent Allais, FRSC Allais, and Fabio Arico, we explored thiol-ene photocuring of α,ω-diene furanic monomers, derived from renewable biomass.
🔬 Our findings show:
✅ Rapid and efficient UV curing with near-complete conversion
✅ High cross-linking density & tunable thermal properties
✅ Full degradation in alkaline conditions, with All-FDE degrading faster
By leveraging green chemistry principles, this research highlights the potential of biobased monomers to replace traditional petrochemical-based coatings. This is a step forward in the development of sustainable, high-performance materials for a circular economy! 🌍
