6 years agoAccelerating reef creation globally to rehabilitate marine habitats.
ARC Marine was founded from the passion of enhancing marine ecosystems on an unprecedented scale. As well as a sustainable commercial fishing company, ARC Marine have invented & patented a concrete solution enabling them to create sustainable, recycled reef structures anywhere in the world. Anyone from scientists to remote fishers can contribute to rebuilding reef systems.
From a private reef for a hotel to boost eco-tourism to an offshore turbine company protecting their investment from scour, ARC Marine works closely with environmentally-conscious companies, authorities, environmental agencies and other NGO’s to rehabilitate damaged marine habitats across the world.

One Year On: Surveying Our #MarineMatts at #MeyGen 🌿🌊
One year after deployment, we’re monitoring #biodiversity on our Marine Matts at the MeyGen tidal array off the coast of #Scotland 🏴, where they sit as cable protection to shield and stabilise the array’s cables.
Last week, Tritonia - Providing Underwater Clarity completed cutting-edge photogrammetry surveys as part of the Nature Inclusive Cable Enhancement and Protection (NICE) Project, funded by The Crown Estate’s Offshore Wind Evidence and Change (#OWEC) Programme.
The NICE project aims to evaluate the ecological impact of 'standard' versus Nature Inclusive Designed (NID) subsea cable protection technologies. It also seeks to explore the potential for long-term biodiversity net benefits, contributing valuable insights to regulatory policy on NID principles for future offshore energy developments.
Using advanced #photogrammetry techniques, these surveys identify and categorise the organisms that have colonised our #carbonneutral, #plasticfree Marine Matts, compared to a traditionally used Portland cement alternative with plastic rope. This work will provide valuable insights into how nature-inclusive design can support biodiversity while reducing the carbon footprint of subsea infrastructure.
Coming Soon: 3D Models of the Seabed
Thanks to our brilliant collaborators: The Crown Estate via OWEC, Cefas, Meygen, #TritoniaScientific and Roving Eye Enterprises 🙌
Here’s to a more nature-inclusive future for #offshoreenergy!

WHAT’S IN THE BOX?!! 📦🌊♻️
Nothing sinister, don’t worry... 😅 It’s our reef cubes® in a box (RIB) heading to a project on the other side of the world!
By shipping our patented moulds and equipment instead of finished units, RIB means:
✅ Lower Emissions – Less transport, reduced carbon footprint
✅ Local Jobs – Creating opportunities and skills in coastal communities
✅ Local Content- Aggregates sourced in-country
✅ Sustainable Impact – Restoring marine ecosystems with green solutions
Made from plastic-free, low-carbon materials, reef cubes® are artificial reef units that support #biodiversity without harming our oceans. 🌊♻️
They can be used within the #offshoreenergy, #coastaldefence, #aquaculture and #ecotourism industries.

🌱🌊 A milestone for marine innovation: PAS 1401:2025 is here!
Today marks a step forward in #sustainable marine development with the official launch of PAS 1401:2025.
Developed with BSI, this new specification provides essential guidance on designing, installing, and managing #natureinclusive marine structures, ensuring that coastal and offshore infrastructure works together with the natural world.
A PAS is a Publicly Available Specification that acts as a fast-track standardisation document led by the British Standard Institution (#BSI) and this one was funded through #ARCMarine.
Why does this matter?
✅ Supports marine #biodiversity by creating habitats for marine life 🐠
✅ Aligns with nature-positive policies and global #sustainability goals 🌿
✅ Provides a practical framework for engineers, developers, and policymakers 📖
As the industry moves toward nature-positive solutions, PAS 1401:2025 sets a new benchmark for marine construction, ensuring that innovation and ecological responsibility can be pursued simultaneously.

🌊🤝 Partnership alert - Material Evolution X #ARCMarine
We’ve partnered with #MaterialEvolution, to integrate their ultra-low carbon #MevoCem into ARC Marine’s products.
This is a game-changer for the marine environment and offers enhanced durability in harsh conditions.
With cement responsible for 8% of global emissions, finding a more #sustainable alternative is critical. By combining our nature-inclusive reef solutions with Material Evolution’s green cement, we’re protecting and restoring marine ecosystems for future generations. 🌱🐟
The first shipment has arrived for testing, and we’re looking forward to scaling up production throughout the year.
