L’Institut des hautes études de l’éducation et de la formation (IH2EF) a pour mission principale la formation initiale et continue des chefs d’établissement et des corps d'inspection du ministère de l’Éducation nationale, de la Jeunesse et des Sports. Il forme aussi les emplois de direction de l’enseignement supérieur, les cadres administratifs, les médecins scolaires et les emplois fonctionnels.
Ce sont 300 sessions de formation sur les compétences managériales, le pilotage pédagogique et les valeurs du service public d’éducation au bénéfice de plus de 11 000 stagiaires que les 71 agents de l’IHEEF organisent chaque année. L’Institut succède depuis le 24 décembre 2018 à l’ESENESR.

Ainsi à partir de septembre 2019, l’Institut va ouvrir un cycle d’auditeurs dédié à la connaissance des politiques éducatives. L’Institut dispose de l’un des meilleurs fonds documentaires sur les politiques d’éducation et d’enseignement supérieur.
