While there has been impressive progress recently, bioprinting is still a field in which the potential of the technology often clashes with challenges. Dr. Mark Skylar-Scott, who co-created SWIFT at the Wyss Institute at Harvard University and now leads cutting-edge research at Stanford University, spoke with Vanesa M. Listek about the timeline for fully bioprinted organs.
It's currently a pivotal moment for bound metal #3Dprinting, also known as bound metal deposition. In our latest 3DPrint.com PRO article, Joris Peels explains why he thinks there are reasons to be optimistic about the future of bound metal.

While the headlines may shout about the potential of #additivemanufacturing to revolutionize a variety of sectors, our industry is at a crossroads. Brigitte de Vet-Veithen, CEO of Materialise, discusses the realities of how we can live up to that potential. She will also be presenting a keynote, and participating in the CEO Roundtable, at our Additive Manufacturing Strategies later today.
A recently published study details the work a team of Virginia Tech researchers completed to create a #3Dprinted sensor that could save U.S. dairy farmers nearly a billion dollars annually. As Benjamin Perez, Ph.D. reports, this device can detect subclinical hypocalcemia (SCH), or milk fever, in cows, which is notoriously difficult to diagnose and can lower milk production, cause paralysis, and compromise the cow’s immune system.
