De OVAM is een Vlaamse overheidsdienst die ervoor zorgt dat we in Vlaanderen op een doordachte en milieubewuste manier omgaan met afval, materialen en bodem. We geven richting aan het beleid rond afval, materialen en bodem en beïnvloeden zo de uitvoering en implementatie van de wetgeving.
Onze bodem beschermen we door de bodemkwaliteit in Vlaanderen op te volgen, verontreinigingen te voorkomen en bodemsaneringen ambtshalve uit te voeren.
We helpen gezinnen en bedrijven afval voorkomen en juist sorteren. Samen werken wij aan een circulaire economie om zo de levensduur en herbruikbaarheid van producten en grondstoffen te maximaliseren.
