Since 2009, we have been carrying out "scientific and participatory research programs with the citizen laboratory" to make an assessment of this pollution. Expédition MED est une association qui depuis 2009 développe avec son laboratoire citoyen des programmes de recherche scientifique et participatif associés à des campagnes de sensibilisation et de formation sur la pollution par les déchets plastiques en mer et des actions pour la mise en place de solutions durables.
Faire connaitre et reconnaitre la problématique des déchets plastiques en mer.
L’amélioration des connaissances sur les déchets marins et la mise en œuvre de plans de gestion sont des processus à long terme, largement basés sur la recherche. L'harmonisation des approches, la possibilité de quantifier les plus petites particules ou nanoparticules, l'évaluation des sources et aires d'accumulation de déchets, une meilleure compréhension de la dynamique du transport, des mécanismes de dégradation et des impacts sur les organismes et les écosystèmes, notamment les transports d’espèces pathogènes ou non sont autant de questions clés en vue de mieux comprendre le cycle des déchets en mer, préalable indispensable à une gestion optimisée du problème.

Réalisation depuis 2009, de « programmes de recherche scientifique et participatif avec le laboratoire citoyen » pour réaliser un constat sur cette pollution. Nous cherchons à mettre en cohérence les activités de recherche et les besoins sociétaux par une approche participative et citoyenne afin de favoriser le dialogue entre le monde scientifique et la société civile. Campagnes scientifiques et citoyennes chaque année en mer Méditerranée. Les campagnes 2017 /2018 / 2019 sont axées sur l’étude de « La plastisphère ».

Nous utilisons le formidable vecteur de sensibilisation qu’est la science participative pour informer et mobiliser le grand public, les décideurs et les politiques autour des enjeux de la protection de la biodiversité marine en général.
