Quantum plays the long game, but don’t blink... you might miss it 😉

We joined the first-ever Business of Quantum Summit hosted by MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy, an event aiming to cut through the hype and get concrete on quantum computing’s business impact. ⚛️🤝

Alice & Bob’s US General Manager Juliette Peyronnet took the stage alongside Google, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and others to discuss real-world applications of quantum, and what needs to happen to get there.

🔑 Here's what we took away:

🔹 Quantum computing won't replace classical computing. 🖥️

But for certain problems, it will massively outperform it. Think of classical computing as a race car, and quantum as a dirt bike. The dirt bike is slower, but when the road doesn't exist or the route is rough, the dirt bike can cut through the terrain to get to the destination faster.

🔹 FTQC is the way to near-term value. 👣

And error correction is no longer a dream. Panelists highlighted big progress on this front - Google’s logical qubit with Willow, and Alice & Bob's record on bit-flips suppression. ⚡

🔹 100 logical qubits is an inflection point. 🔬

MIT believes that this will be the threshold where quantum could accelerate scientific research. 🧪

Alice & Bob were at Yale University sponsoring the YQuantum hackathon ⚛️💥

Yesterday we participated in the Yale Quantum Institute’s YQuantum hackathon, with 400 participants from +25 countries and +100 institutions!

Our challenge gave students a taste of what it’s like to be a quantum physicist — tackling a real-world experimental problem using actual cat qubit data 🐾 and applying physics, computer science, and machine learning. 🖥️

The teams tapped into these different disciplines, and the most successful were the ones that got the perfect alchemy. ⚗🤝 Most of them pulled off a coding all-nighter, and we were blown away by their energy and creativity!

A student in our challenge said “It was intense but rewarding, and I learned so much about quantum computing, simulation, and real-world quantum applications.” 🙌

Yale Quantum Institute awarded 3 Grand Prizes, and one of our teams won second place! Congrats to “Alice & Bobs” for the podium finish and to “Bracket Bros” for winning the Alice & Bob prize 🏆

We had a blast at #APSSummit25! 🙌

Our team made a strong showing in LA at the iconic March Meeting, the largest physics conference in the world.

Here’s what stood out for us ⬇️

⚛️ 🖥️ 2025 is officially the year of quantum, and we felt it at March Meeting! The interest in quantum computing continues to grow - as the industry shifts towards fault-tolerance as the clearest path to useful applications.

🎛️ System control is key: Effective error correction starts with effective error detection. Talks highlighted the strides being made in control and measurement - an essential step as we scale to larger systems.

🎤 Talking cats: From squeezed cats to chiral codes, we shared our latest progress in making cat qubits more robust and error resilient. Not only Alice & Bob, but new players are also starting to adopt cat qubits.

😺 Playing with the cat: our live demo with Quantum Machines was a success! People got the chance to try out our Boson 4 chip, testing its record bit-flip resistance in real-time 💪

🎉 And we wrapped up this exhilarating week in the best way we know how: an epic Alice & Bob party! A full-house and stellar vibes, just how we like it.

🔬 Alice & Bob x Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI) 🤝

Alice & Bob has been selected to participate in the Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, a program evaluating leading fault-tolerant quantum approaches and their ability to deliver utility by 2033.

The QBI selects technologies considered to have the highest potential to scale to utility-level operations, and we're proud that our hardware-efficient cat qubit technology has been recognized among other forerunners in quantum computing. 🐈⚡

In the first phase of the program, participants will be challenged to create a report to elaborate their concept. The goal will be to demonstrate how it will reach utility on specific use cases - a chance to stress-test our design with DARPA’s leading subject matter experts.

The program will also be a chance for us to dive deeper into high-technology use cases in areas like chemistry and material science.

Thanks to these leading-edge collaborations, we’ll accelerate the journey to turning our technology into scalable, impactful applications.
