👉 Inefficiencies in clinical research and care have major operational, economic and medical costs for industry players, healthcare providers and academic research.
In the United States alone, they represent:
- $290 bn/year for poor adherence to treatments
- $150 bn/year for no-shows at medical appointments
- $19 k on average to replace a patient who prematurely withdraws from a clinical trial.
👉 Research has shown that individual non-medical health determinants play an important role and often interact with each other in these inefficiencies, with some patients having a higher risk profile.
🚀 NewClin, a specialist in non-medical health determinants and their use cases, is proud to announce that it has developed 3 proprietary composite risk indices for poor performance based on social, behavioral and environmental health determinants: PTA35 for poor therapeutic compliance, NSA20 for non-attendance at medical appointments and clinical research visits, CTDO11 for premature trial exit. They have now been integrated into our PRECIVIZ platform for contextualizing health data using non-medical health determinants.
🧑⚕️ For a given individual (for whom we have previously created a functional digital twin, the Health Determinome), PRECIVIZ generates an individual risk score and a decision-making aid in the form of automated, personalized and prorated risk prevention or correction recommendations. Our current focus is cancer.

👉 The Crew Health Integrated Management System (CHIMS) project, run under a programme of, and funded by, the European Space Agency - ESA, has just concluded. It aimed at creating a demonstration software to increase crew's autonomy during future #Space exploration missions 🚀. The objective is, in environments where crew will become more isolated and communications more challenging, to give astronauts the capacity to be more autonomous and take a more active role in health-related decision-making, even in face of life-threatening medical situations 🧑🚀.
⭐⭐⭐ At NewClin, we are proud of our contribution - design, medical content, software development - to the creation, under the coordination of MEDES - Institute for Space Medicine and Physiology, of such a tool.
We leveraged our expertise of decision-making expert systems, used by us to develop our PRECIVIZ SaaS platform 💻. PRECIVIZ contextualizes patients' health data with their social, behavioral, and environmental health determinants to generate their functional digital twin, the Health Determinome, and new risk indicators to transform the performance of #clinicalresearch and #healthcare "on earth" 🏥 💊. 🌐 🚀 [EN] 🇺🇸 Contextualizing Health in Space and on Earth with the Health Determinome
⭐ ⭐ NewClin is delighted to announce that it has completed the development of an Astronaut’s Health Digital Twin 👨🚀 👨🚀.
This collaboration took place as part of the R&T (Research and Technology) challenge organized by the CNES (France's Space Agency) via its SpaceshipFR program, in partnership with Connect by CNES, Greater Paris University Hospitals - AP-HP and the MEDES - Institute for Space Medicine and Physiology.
This work has resulted in :
👉 the creation by NewClin of the first knowledge base on the non-medical determinants of astronauts’ health before, during and after manned space missions, particularly in preparation for missions to the Moon and Mars.
👉 the development by NewClin, on the basis of its PRECIVIZ software platform, of a unique application to build the Astronaut's Health Determinome, a functional digital twin that identifies and datavisualizes the health risks of the astronaut according to his/her social, behavioral and environmental health determinants in the different phases of a space mission.
This will enable :
👤 through a holistic approach, better identification of the health risks for astronauts and the impact on their individual performance for the selection process, during space missions and in the aftermath.
💊 strengthening NewClin's PRECIVIZ software platform terrestrial healthcare uses, in particular performance enhancement along interventional and observational clinical trials lifecycle for sponsors (including the construction of more relevant synthetic arms) and that of care pathways for healthcare providers. This is achieved by building Patients’ Health Determinome through the contextualization of their health data by their non-medical health determinants: social context, individual behaviors, physical environment. It enables the construction of poor performance risk scores, such as the costly treatment non-compliance or drop out of clinical trials, whose economic and medical impact is considerable. Automated, personalized and proportionate recommendations for interventions to prevent or mitigate these risks will constitute an innovative decision-making aid for clinical research and care professionals.
👨💻 The fruit of several years' work, NewClin's knowledge base around these non-medical health determinants, unique in Europe, will eventually be strengthened by the use of #AI, in the search for new health determinants based on scientific evidence.
