La Fondation Cognacq-Jay, reconnue d'utilité publique depuis 1916, œuvre auprès des publics en difficulté à tous les âges de la vie. Ses 2000 collaborateurs, répartis sur 13 établissements, exercent dans quatre secteurs d'activité : santé, médico-social, protection de l'enfance et enseignement.
Les établissements de la Fondation Cognacq-Jay sont principalement situés à Paris et en IDF. On les trouve également en Haute-Savoie (Annemasse) et dans le Var (Giens).
La Fondation compte 4 établissements de santé, 1 Ehpad, 1 Institut médico-éducatif (IME) pour adolescents autistes, des Appartements de coordination thérapeutique (ACT) pour personnes atteintes de maladies chroniques et en précarité sociale, 1 lieu d'accueil et de mieux-être pour les personnes touchées par le cancer, 1 établissement d'accueil pour adultes handicapés psychiques, 2 Maisons d'enfants, 1 lycée professionnel et 1 Maison de vacances solidaires.
La Fondation a créé depuis 2016 un dispositif de R&D, le Laboratoire des solidarités, qui soutient et promeut l'innovation en solidarité sociale via notamment deux appels à projet : le Prix Fondation Cognacq-Jay pour l'externe et les Trophées de l'engagement pour l'interne. Un événement national est également organisé chaque année au Centquatre-Paris, les Rencontres solidaires, pour favoriser l'inspiration et le partage entre les acteurs de la solidarité.
