The Spanish Foundations Association is a private and independent association at national level. He groups about 900 Spanish foundations of the most diverse dimensions, purposes and areas of action. La Asociación Española de Fundaciones es una asociación privada e independiente de ámbito nacional. Agrupa cerca de 900 fundaciones españolas de las más diversas dimensiones, finalidades y ámbitos de actuación. Es la entidad más representativa del sector a nivel nacional y la segunda más importante en Europa. Su misión es trabajar en beneficio del conjunto del sector fundacional en favor de su desarrollo y fortalecimiento.
La AEF se constituyó el 22 de enero de 2003, como resultado de la fusión del Centro de Fundaciones y de la Confederación Española de Fundaciones. Es heredera del trabajo y la experiencia de más de 30 años de las dos asociaciones que la precedieron.
Tiene tres fines principales:
1.- Representar y defender los intereses de las fundaciones españolas.
2.- Mejorar la profesionalización y la gestión de las fundaciones contribuyendo a su transparencia y buen gobierno.
3.- Fortalecer y articular el sector fundacional,
