Chiquitectos is a fun and educational project to awaken children's interest in architecture, the environment, the city and sustainable development.
Children will learn that architecture is not just about building buildings, it is about dreaming, exploring, thinking, imagining, researching, drawing... but it is also about calculating, measuring, solving, representing and building.
Chiquitectos is a project by the Madrid architect Almudena de Benito, who decided to materialize this idea, thus bringing together her interest in architecture and early childhood education. The project was born due to the need to educate the youngest children in an area of great importance, which is not usually part of the programs of Spanish educational centers, the knowledge of what surrounds us: the built environment and the environment.
A pedagogue and a child psychologist also participate in the development of the program and activities, helping to adapt the content to the different stages of child development.
Chiquitectos carries out an awareness-raising task, which could be extended to the whole society, to value the importance of the design and organisation of the environment in people's lives and how they influence the quality of life.

Chiquitectos es un proyecto lúdico y educativo para despertar en los niños el interés por la arquitectura, el entorno, la ciudad y el desarrollo sostenible.
Los niños aprenderán que hacer arquitectura no es sólo construir edificios, es soñar, explorar, pensar, imaginar, investigar, dibujar...pero también es calcular, medir, resolver, representar y construir.
Chiquitectos es un proyecto de la arquitecta madrileña Almudena de Benito, que decidió materializar esta idea reuniendo así su interés por la arquitectura y por la educación infantil. El proyecto nació debido a la necesidad existente de educar a los más pequeños en un área de gran importancia, que no suele formar parte de los programas de los centros educativos españoles, el conocimiento de aquello que nos rodea: el entorno construido y el medio ambiente.
En la elaboración del programa y actividades participan también una pedagoga y una psicóloga infantil que ayudan a adecuar los contenidos a las diferentes etapas del desarrollo infantil.
Chiquitectos lleva a cabo una tarea de sensibilización, que podría extenderse a toda la sociedad, valorar la importancia que tienen el diseño y la ordenación del medio en la vida de las personas y de qué modo influyen en la calidad de la misma.
