We are excited to share Expansion’s latest investment in Exobiosphere. Together with Expon Capital, we co-led a 2M EUR seed round, alongside strategic partners Boryung and Spacedata Inc.

Exobiosphere, founded in Luxembourg in 2024 is using microgravity to unlock the next generation of drug discovery by harnessing high-throughput testing and space-based research.

The funding will accelerate development of Exobiosphere’s Orbital High-Throughput Screeneer (OHTS), an autonomous, standardized lab automation platform built for microgravity. Pharmaceutical R&D remains challenging with drug failure rates and long development timelines. OHTS offers a powerful alternative— leveraging space conditions to enhance disease modelling, reduce false positive results, increase success rates, and accelerate the development of more effective therapies, ensuring better drugs reach patients sooner and at lower cost.

Following our team gathering in Luxembourg last week, we stayed in Luxembourg City to attend the "Security and Defence perspectives for Luxembourg investors" event.

Sandra Budimir spoke at a panel discussing the experiences of European security and defense tech funds, moderated by Quentin Dupraz and joined by fellow investors - Lynn Zoenen, Yvan-Michel Ehkirch, Fabrice Testa to discuss the back story of our fund and latest updates from our portfolio ventures.

Expansion in Singapore

Last week, at the kind invitation of DSTA, Ted E. and Amaury Daignes had a chance to contribute to the Singapore Defense Technology Summit and DSTA 25th Founding Anniversary. This conference brought together a global audience of defence officials, entrepreneurs and investors, representing companies like Epirus, Anduril, Shield AI.

Ted Elvhage joined the panel exploring the need for agile approaches in procuring and investing in defence technologies. We would like to thank Ms Clementine Starling-Daniels for expert moderation and our fellow panellists for the interesting discussion.

Singapore remains one of the most dynamic global hubs for technology and investments. It was a pleasure to spend a week strengthening our relationships with partners in the region and opening doors for our portfolio companies.

François Jacq, currently CEO of the CEA brings with him a wealth of experience and visionary leadership. Under his leadership at the CEA, innovation and business creation have flourished, including the creation of several outstanding spinoffs in the field of Advanced Modular Reactors (4th generation nuclear reactors).

The CEA and CNES play prominent roles in the emergence of startups in strategic industrial sectors for our European autonomy: energy independence and space sovereignty. These two institutions are essential pillars for our technological and industrial future.

Let's imagine a near future when these two assets of France and Europe could be combined into a space and nuclear project at the same time, opening up new perspectives for Europe !
