DeepSeek vs. ChatGPT: A Prompt Based Analysis 🚀 💻

ChatGPT has quickly risen to the top of the artificial intelligence world, among the most recognizable names for AI models. However, DeepSeek has surpassed ChatGPT as the most downloaded free app in the app store. DeepSeek has been making waves from China, being the creators of one of the first mainstream multilingual AI chat models (Chinese and English). Today I wanted to put both to the test and see how they stack up. I created three prompts to ask each chatbot to test them academically, socially, and on a business level.

I provided the same three prompts to each chatbot:

1. Write a three-sentence summary about the Industrial Revolution.
2. Create a thank you note for my neighbor who brought me cookies.
3. Develop a three-sentence pitch explaining why I should read AI Time Journal.

Conclusions:
I was very surprised to see that the difference between ChatGPT and DeepSeek is marginal. The amount of repetition in particular was astounding. ChatGPT appears to have the edge at writing the letter, as it feels more personable and grateful, while DeepSeek appears to have a slight professional edge. However, very large sections of the responses match up word for word. With both options being comparable at this point, future updates to the models will be of utmost importance in a rapidly growing industry.
