JPI Oceans is a strategic platform which provides a long-term approach to marine and maritime research and technology development in Europe.

In its role as a coordination platform, JPI Oceans will focus on making better and more efficient use of national research budgets, which represent 88% of the research funding within Europe.

JPI Oceans consists of 15 member countries, with a further five countries currently pending status decision.
