With more than 175 million motors sold, Somfy is the world leader in automatic controls for openings and closures in homes and buildings. The company is also a pioneer in the field of Smart Home and Smart Building – running over five million connected devices in total. With an average of 40 new patents per year, Somfy has demonstrated its vision and innovative strength for 50 years. The company launched the first tubular motor for awnings in 1969, introduced io homecontrol as one of the first bidirectional radio protocols in 2007, and is currently focusing on an interoperable smart home world with TaHoma® and the "So Open"​ initiative. The incentive of the workforce is also the company motto: "Inspiring a better way of living accessible to all"​. The company`s focus is on comfort, safety, sustainability and energy savings. Somfy speaks the customer's language from the end consumer to the installers, from industrial companies to architects and planners.

The Somfy Group, with its headquarters in Cluses (France) employs a total of 6,070 people in around 60 countries. In 2019, the family-owned company achieved a total turnover of 1.2 billion euros. One of the main markets is the so called 'DACH'​ region - 400 employees work in Germany (Rottenburg), Austria (Elsbethen-Glasenbach) and Switzerland (Bassersdorf).
