M9 - Museum of the 1900s is the first museum dedicated to the material history of the twentieth century in Italy and is the heart of an urban regeneration intervention carried out by the Foundation of Venice in the center of Mestre.
Inaugurated in December 2018, it belongs to a new generation of museums: it tells the story of everyone in a compelling way through the small and great transformations of the century, from daily life to the great social, economic, environmental and cultural changes that have marked the history of the country .
The permanent collection of the museum presents the Italian twentieth century through the cultural heritage that the same century has produced, with a use of images, audio installations, videos, exploiting the possibilities offered by new technologies for the narration of content, the interactivity of users and the immersion of the visiting experience.
The museum intends to be a house open to the territory and its communities, a permanent laboratory of the contemporary, capable of promoting reflections and actions on the present time and future, thanks to its program of temporary exhibitions, educational and training activities and an important schedule of Events.
The architectural project of the museum is signed by the Berlin Studio Sauerbruch Hutton; the preparation of the permanent exhibition by the GRISDAINESE STUDIO; graphic design from the Camuffolab study; Multimedia installations of five Interaction Design studios: Carraro Lab, Clonwerk with Limitazero, Dottedot, Karmachina with Engineering Associates, Nema FX.

M9 - Museo del ’900 è il primo museo dedicato alla storia materiale del Novecento in Italia ed è il cuore di un intervento di rigenerazione urbana realizzato dalla Fondazione di Venezia nel centro di Mestre.
Inaugurato nel dicembre 2018, appartiene a una nuova generazione di musei: racconta in modo avvincente la storia di tutti attraverso le piccole e grandi trasformazioni del secolo, dalla vita quotidiana ai grandi cambiamenti sociali, economici, ambientali e culturali che hanno segnato la storia del Paese.
La collezione permanente del Museo presenta il Novecento italiano attraverso i beni culturali che lo stesso secolo ha prodotto, con un utilizzo di immagini, installazioni audio, video, sfruttando le possibilità offerte dalle nuove tecnologie per la narrazione dei contenuti, l’interattività dell’utenza e l’immersività dell’esperienza di visita.
Il Museo intende essere una casa aperta al territorio e alle sue comunità, un laboratorio permanente del contemporaneo, capace di promuovere riflessioni e azioni sul tempo presente e sul futuro, grazie al suo programma di mostre temporanee, attività didattiche e formative e a un importante palinsesto di eventi.
Il progetto architettonico del Museo è firmato dallo studio berlinese Sauerbruch Hutton; l’allestimento dell’esposizione permanente dallo studio Grisdainese; la progettazione grafica dallo studio CamuffoLab; le installazioni multimediali da cinque studi di interaction design: Carraro Lab, Clonwerk con Limiteazero, Dotdotdot, Karmachina con Engineering Associates, Nema FX.
