The Association of Chief Human Resource Officers

HR Policy Association is the lead public policy organization of chief human resource officers representing the largest employers doing business in the United States and globally. The Association brings these executives together not simply to discuss how human resource practices and policies should be improved, but also to create a vision for successful HR strategies and pursue initiatives that promote job growth, employment security and competitiveness. Senior corporate officers participate in the Association to leverage the combined power of the membership as a positive influence to improve public policy, increase returns on human capital, and advance the human resource profession.

Membership: The HR Policy Association consists of over 390 large and influential corporations. Collectively, our members employ more than 20 million employees worldwide and have a market capitalization of more than $7.5 trillion. In the United States, Association members employ over 9 percent of the U.S. private sector workforce.

Unique Nature of the Association: There are hundreds of organizations representing various segments of the human resource function. HR Policy Association stands apart because it focuses primarily on the concerns of the most senior HR executive in Fortune 500 companies, and it is these chief human resource officers who shape and prioritize the Association's activities and drive its agenda.

History: HR Policy Association has been operating for more than four decades, coming together in 1968 to address the tumultuous labor and civil rights issues that were sweeping the workplace at that time. It has remained the leading CHRO public policy organization ever since, continuing to tackle new problems and emerging issues such as health care reform affecting senior human resource executives.
