Issu, dès 1977, du dialogue entre des chercheurs et des militants de l’éducation populaire, l’Espace Mendès France s’est donné trois objectifs essentiels :populariser la recherche, ses méthodes, ses résultats et ses métiers ; favoriser la transmission et le partage des connaissances ; entretenir les débats citoyens sur les enjeux sociaux et culturels.
Par la diversité de ses actions et de ses publics, le centre contribue à une meilleure compréhension, par tous et toutes, de notre monde complexe et mouvant. Enraciné dans la vie associative de Poitiers et en lien étroit avec l’université, il se déploie aussi sur l’ensemble du territoire de Poitou-Charentes voire au-delà .
