Studying the Universe from the center of the Earth to the farthest edges of Space
IRAP’s scientific objectives concern the study and understanding of the Universe and its contents: the Earth as a planet, its ionized space environment, the sun and its planets, the stars and their planetary systems, the interstellar environment , galaxies, the very first stars and the primordial Big Bang.
With activities of design, construction, integration and operation of instruments on the ground and in space as well as laboratory experiments allowing the characterization of physical processes, IRAP is one of the major poles of ground-space astrophysics in France.
IRAP has numerous collaborations both regionally and internationally with organizations such as CNES, ESA, ESO, NASA, JAXA ...
IRAP benefits from numerous fundings through calls for projects, notably within the framework of the National Research Agency (ANR) and the Horizon 2020 program of the European Union.Original language
Etudier l'Univers depuis le centre de la Terre jusqu'aux confins de l'Espace
Les objectifs scientifiques de l’IRAP concernent l’étude et la compréhension de l’Univers et de son contenu : la Terre en tant que planète, son environnement spatial ionisé, le soleil et ses planètes, les étoiles et leurs systèmes planétaires, le milieu interstellaire, les galaxies, les tous premiers astres et le Big Bang primordial. Avec des activités de conception, construction, intégration et exploitation d’instruments au sol et dans l’espace ainsi que des expériences de laboratoire permettant de caractériser les processus physiques, l’IRAP est un des pôles majeur de l’astrophysique sol-espace en France. L’IRAP a de nombreuses collaborations aussi bien à l’échelle régionale qu’à l’échelle internationale avec des organismes comme le CNES, l’ESA, l’ESO, la NASA, la JAXA... L’IRAP bénéficie de nombreux financements sur appel à projets, notamment dans le cadre de l’Agence Nationale de la Recherche et du programme Horizon 2020 de l’Union Européenne.
