Créée en 1997, l’Agence pour l’Éducation par le Sport est une association nationale d’inclusion par le sport destinée à la jeunesse peu ou non diplômée.

Fin 2021, l'APELS lance officiellement son premier Centre National de l'inclusion par le Sport (CNIS). Ce centre de formation, unique en son genre, va préparer au métier de coach d’insertion par le sport, un nouveau métier indispensable à l’ensemble des acteurs du sport en France. Le CNIS est ouvert à toutes les structures sensibilisées à la dimension socio-éducative du sport et qui souhaitent professionnaliser leur démarche d’inclusion : Fédérations sportives, services des sports des collectivités, missions locales, centres sociaux etc.
Basée à Paris, l'APELS dispose également de 6 antennes régionales en Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Hauts-de-France, Île-de-France, Normandie, Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur et Île de la Réunion.
