Art gallery representing Modern and Contemporary artists in Paris, Brussels, London, New York, Shanghai and Monaco.

Almine Rech opened its doors on April 1st, 1997 in the 13th arrondissement in Paris. The gallery was founded on an axis of California Minimal, Perceptual art and Conceptual art, representing artists such as James Turrell, John McCracken and Joseph Kosuth.
In addition to its stable of internationally recognized, mid-career and emerging artists, it has always been the gallery's mission to continually seek out and include new artists in its program, opening especially to painters. The gallery has held longstanding relationships with artists like John McCracken and James Turrell and has since started working with and representing artists such as Alex Israel and De Wain Valentine, Jeff Koons and the painters Antoni Tàpies, Karel Appel, Nathaniel Mary Quinn, Vaughn Spann, and Claire Tabouret, among others. In 2006 the gallery moved to a larger two-floor space in the Marais district and in 2008 inaugurated a second 1,000 square meter exhibition space in Brussels. In March 2013, Almine Rech launched its new Paris space at 64 rue de Turenne. In June 2014, Almine Rech opened a gallery in London on Savile Row, Mayfair. In October 2016, the gallery moved from Savile Row to a larger space on Grosvenor Hill, Mayfair.
The 400 square meter gallery opened with a solo exhibition by Jeff Koons. Almine Rech also opened in Manhattan’s Upper East Side — the gallery's first exhibition space in the US — at the end of October, 2016. The New York gallery's inaugurating exhibition was 'Calder and Picasso’.
In 2019, Almine Rech inaugurated its new Shanghai space. The gallery opened at 27 Huqiu Road on July 12, 2019 with a group show titled 'Approaches to Abstraction’ featuring a selection of artists from the gallery’s roster, including John M Armleder, Sylvie Fleury, and Günther Förg.
In January 2021, Almine Rech opened a second space in Paris, avenue Matignon in the 8th district, with a solo show by iconic US artist Kenny Scharf.

On the occasion of Jose Davila's solo exhibition 'Half Empty, Half Full', Almine Rech Paris, Turenne organized a panel talk with the artist and Alison Moss, Editor-in-Chief of Quotidien de l'Art. The show is on view until April 19, 2025.

Check out a teaser and watch the full video in the link in bio!

The artist’s titles are enigmatic and sometimes tinged with humor, already invoking the polysemy that is inseparable from reality with its inherent contradictions. This exhibition is about measure, with its title, 'Half Empty, Half Full,' embodying an irresolvable statement making it possible for two opposites to coexist.

Visit 'AM PM,' Joe Andoe's sixth solo exhibition with the gallery, on view at Almine Rech New York, Tribeca until April 26, 2025.

Tulsa-born painter Joe Andoe is known for his austere depictions of everyday subjects, such as roadsides with cloud-filled skies, horses, dogs, and flowers. For his painting, he uses a reductive technique where he covers an entire canvas with thick oil paint, then wipes off the paint while still wet to reveal an image beneath, creating an enigmatic and textural minimalism.

On the occasion of Tom Wesselmann's solo exhibition 'Up Close', Almine Rech London organized a panel talk with Mark Godfrey, Art historian and critic; Jeffrey Sturges, Director of exhibitions at the Estate of Tom Wesselmann; and Almine Rech, founder of the gallery. The conversation was moderated by Louisa Buck, contemporary art correspondent at The Art Newspaper.

Check out a teaser and watch the full video in the link in bio!

Tom Wesselmann emerged as a pivotal figure in the American Pop Art movement of the 1960s, setting aside abstract expressionism to embrace classical representations. His art, particularly in nudes, still lifes, and landscapes, carved out a unique niche with its integration of collage elements and assemblages.

Visit 'To Nowhere and Back,' Keita Morimoto's first solo exhibition with the gallery, on view at Almine Rech New York, Tribeca until April 26, 2025.

Morimoto challenges viewers to uncover beauty in the mundane and magic in the overlooked by marrying meticulous observation with an otherworldly atmosphere. In 'To Nowhere and Back' at Almine Rech in New York City, he continues his exploration of light as a transformative force, turning the quotidian into the paranormal. Through the construction of liminal spaces, his paintings create thresholds between the concrete urban world and the ethereal realm of memory, inviting viewers to discover enchantment within the unnoticed.
