The Flying Start Challenge is an engineering competition in the South West of England sponsored by local aerospace companies including; Airbus, Atkins-Realis, Leonardo, MBDA, Safran, Dowty and Roxel.
School students across Gloucestershire, Bristol and Yeovil are taught the basic principles of flight by the Graduates and Apprentices from the companies. The students can then build a glider which they take to the Regional Final to fly in front of our VIP judges.
The winning teams from the 3 Regional Finals then proceed to the Grand Final, where the overall winners are announced!
This event is to promote STEM and Engineering among secondary school students.
