🌊 Is flood risk in France/Europe becoming uninsurable?
That’s the tough question industry leaders tackled during a recent roundtable hosted by Commercial Risk Europe in partnership with ICEYE.
The panel concluded that high-quality, real-time flood data is essential—not just for insurers but also for brokers, underwriters, and risk managers.
ICEYE's Mirka Vahtera explained how our Flood Insights data can empower faster decisions, better risk understanding, and stronger resilience across the insurance ecosystem.

When an ICEYE satellite is in a one-day repeating ground track, it means that the same location is seen from exactly the same imaging geometry - this is extremely useful when trying to detect change. The latest generations of ICEYE satellites are all set up to perform Ground Track Repeat (GTR) collections.
The two images shown here are examples of GTR collection imagery over an air base. The image from November 5th, 2024, shows two MI-26 Hind helicopters sitting on the runway.
The image collected from the same location two days later, on November 7th, 2024, shows two MI-26 Hind helicopters with a very different set of rotor signatures.
The obvious question is: "Why do the helicopters look so different?"
The answer requires another tool. Because we collect for 25 seconds, we usually also make a video with reduced azimuth resolution (25cm) as the satellite moves past. Find out how the video helped us solve the puzzle: https://hubs.li/Q03cFRtH0
