From designing Google Cloud solutions to explaining complex tech and building proof-of-concepts, her role is a blend of technical expertise and collaboration. “In a nutshell, I’m the main tech contact, bridging the gap between sales, customers and our product teams,” she explains.

Vishakha offers this advice for those applying to a similar role: “Build actual solutions, even small ones, to demonstrate your skills” and “practice explaining technical concepts to non-technical individuals...The ability to translate complex technical concepts into tangible business value is where you truly shine.”

This week, the first satellite for the FireSat constellation, a first-of-its-kind network of over 50 satellites designed to use AI to detect and track wildfires when they’re still small, reached the skies on the SpaceX Transporter-13 mission. 🛰️ Once complete, FireSat will help firefighters act quickly before devastation spreads — and the satellite data will contribute to a global historical record, so scientists can better model and understand wildfire behavior.

As we celebrate 20 years of Google Maps 🗺️, we're sharing the story of Ben Luk, one of the engineers who helped launch Maps in Hong Kong back in 2008.

"It started as a 20% project with a few fellow Hong Kong engineers," Ben recalls. "We wanted to bring accessibility and connectivity to the city we grew up in. It was fascinating to see Hong Kong's unique density and community-centric buildings through the lens of mapping. Ensuring accuracy was paramount, particularly with building names and the precise locations of MTR station exits – details that are vital in our daily lives."

Ben's dedication didn't stop there. He's now a Level-9 Local Guide, driven by the pride he feels when navigating his city with Maps. "Seeing the impact firsthand fuels my passion," he says. "I'm just 8,000 points away from Level 10!" Ben shares with a smile. "Every contribution counts, and I'm excited to keep exploring and sharing my love with the community."
