On December 3, 2024, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has published ISO 17234-1:2024 Leather — Chemical tests for the determination of certain azo colourants in dyed leathers Part 1: Determination of certain aromatic amines derived from azo colourants.

This document specifies a method to determine certain aromatic amines derived from azo colourants.

This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition (ISO 17234-1:2020), which has been technically revised.

The main change is as follows:
- normative Annexes E and F have been added.

The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has updated some standards in the EN 71 series:

• EN 71-3:2019+A2:2024 Safety of Toys – Part 3: Migration of Certain Elements
• EN 71-13:2021+A2:2024 Safety of Toys – Part 13: Olfactory Board Games, Cosmetic Kits and Gustative Games

Moreover, new standards have been published for substances banned under Appendix C of the EU Toy Safety Directive, and other standards for substances restricted under Appendix C will be published this year.

On November 6, 2024, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has published EN 17137:2024 Textiles and textile products - Determination of the content of compounds based on chlorobenzenes and chlorotoluenes.

This document specifies a test method using gas chromatography with mass selective detector (GC-MS) for detection and quantification of chlorobenzenes, chlorotoluenes, and α-chlorinated toluenes in fibres, yarns, fabrics, coated fabrics and plastics.

The standard substituted previous version EN 17137:2018.
