Helsinki Film Lab is a creative innovation hub connecting film, TV, games, animation, comics and publishing. We design cross-industry accelerators, masterclasses, matchmaking formats and industry events that help creative professionals develop, package and scale stories across platforms.
HFL co-curated the standing-room-only Beyond Games Transmedia Summit on cross-media IP, drawing professionals from film, TV, games and publishing. We have also launched fully booked Film × Game and Game × Book Matchmaking sessions, praised for connecting producers, studios and storytellers around co-production, licensing and adaptation opportunities.
Our programmes and events have featured leading transmedia and creative industry voices including Eeva Aaltonen (Rovio), Petri Alanko (Remedy), Ann Austen (Robocop, Power Rangers, Barbie/Netflix), Antti J. Jokinen (Kalevala, Purge), Joni Lappalainen (Dreamloop), Kurt McClung (Goldilocks), Christian Fonnesbach (Leverage) and others, bringing together expertise from global entertainment franchises, games, screen production, publishing and IP development.
HFL has presented talks and masterclasses at international film, games and media industry platforms including WAVES Bazaar / International Film Festival of India in Goa, Thessaloniki Agora, Seriencamp, Filmfest München / Munich International Film Festival, European Film Market and Pocket Gamer Connects.
HFL’s Transmedia Game Jam Accelerator has also demonstrated a hands-on model for rapid cross-industry IP development, bringing animation studios, game developers and transmedia experts together to test how existing IP can expand into interactive formats.
Through hands-on labs, online masterclasses, curated B2B matchmaking and international industry programmes, Helsinki Film Lab helps creative companies turn stories and IP into new formats, partnerships and market opportunities.
