In France, an academy is an administrative district of the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. There are 30 academies in France, including 4 overseas. Depuis le 1er janvier 2016, chaque académie fait partie d'une région académique (dont les frontières correspondent à celles des régions administratives).
La région académique Réunion a pour périmètre l'académie de La Réunion. Elle constitue l'échelon de mise en cohérence des politiques éducatives régionales, en particulier pour les questions requérant une coordination avec la Région ou le Préfet de région.
L'académie de La Réunion a été créée le 1er décembre 1984 et a sa tête la rectrice Chantal Manès-Bonnisseau.
