Located between the Haute-Chaîne du Jura mountain range and Switzerland, the Pays de Gex agglomeration community was created in 1996. It comprises 27 communes and a population of around 100,000. As a fast-growing community, Pays de Gex agglo is strengthening its skills to implement its 2015-2030 territorial project, in order to build the Pays de Gex of tomorrow. Pays de Gex agglo's main missions are to meet the needs of the people of Pays de Gex, in areas as varied as early childhood, transport, waste management and regional development, by pooling technical, human and financial resources. Pays de Gex agglo has managed the Haute Chaîne du Jura National Nature Reserve since 2003. The 27 communes of Pays de Gex: Cessy, Challex, Chevry, Chézery-Forens, Collonges, Crozet, Divonne-les-Bains, Echevenex, Farges, Ferney-Voltaire, Gex, Grilly, Léaz, Lelex, Mijoux, Ornex, Péron, Pougny, Prévessin-Moëns, Saint-Genis-Pouilly, Saint-Jean-de-Gonville, Sauverny, Segny, Sergy, Thoiry, Versonnex, Vesancy.

La Communauté d'agglomération du Pays de Gex
Située entre la Haute-Chaîne du Jura et la Suisse, la Communauté d'agglomération du Pays de Gex a été créée en 1996. Elle regroupe 27 communes et compte environ 100 000 habitants.
Le Pays de Gex offre un cadre de vie préservé sur un territoire dynamique, tourné vers l’international. Collectivité en plein développement, Pays de Gex agglo renforce ses compétences pour mettre en oeuvre son projet de territoire 2015-2030 afin de construire le Pays de Gex de demain.
Ses missions principales :
Assurer des missions pour répondre aux besoins des Gessiens sur des sujets aussi variés que la petite enfance, les transports, la gestion des déchets, l’aménagement du territoire... Pour cela, elle mutualise des moyens techniques, humains et financiers.
Depuis 2003, Pays de Gex agglo est gestionnaire de la Réserve naturelle nationale de la Haute Chaîne du Jura.
