As a federally owned GmbH, we accept orders from so-called top federal authorities, i.e. federal ministries, in the field of sustainable mobility and energy supply. These orders usually include the implementation and coordination of funding programs. In addition, we also support strategic stakeholder processes, design international cooperations and are committed to the acceptance of alternative technologies in society.

    The founding mission of NOW GmbH is the National Innovation Program for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP). To this day, we carry this origin in our name: NOW - National Organization for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology.

    The NOW's order portfolio has expanded considerably since it was founded in 2008. Not least due to the increasing social and political importance of clean, efficient mobility based on renewable energies. Technologically, our tasks today include the areas of hydrogen, fuel cells, batteries and liquefied natural gas - both on the drive and fuel side and on the infrastructure side. For example, in December 2019 the National Control Center for Charging Infrastructure was founded under the umbrella of NOW GmbH.

    Wir arbeiten für die Zukunft der Mobilität. Die vom Bund gesetzten Klimaziele sind dabei unsere Leitschnur. Als bundeseigene GmbH nehmen wir im Bereich nachhaltige Mobilität und Energieversorgung Aufträge von sogenannten obersten Bundesbehörden, also Bundesministerien an. Zumeist umfassen diese Aufträge die Umsetzung und Koordination von Förderprogrammen. Darüber hinaus begleiten wir im Auftrag aber auch strategische Stakeholder-Prozesse, gestalten internationale Kooperationen und engagieren uns für die Akzeptanz alternativer Technologien in der Gesellschaft.

    Der Gründungsauftrag der NOW GmbH ist das Nationale Innovationsprogramm Wasserstoff- und Brennstoffzellentechnologie (NIP). Bis heute tragen wir diesen Ursprung im Namen: NOW – Nationale Organisation Wasserstoff- und Brennstoffzellentechnologie.

    Das Auftragsportfolio der NOW hat sich seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 2008 aber stark erweitert. Nicht zuletzt aufgrund der zunehmenden gesellschaftlichen und politischen Bedeutung von sauberer, effizienter Mobilität auf der Basis von erneuerbaren Energien. Technologisch umfassen unsere Aufgaben heute die Bereiche Wasserstoff, Brennstoffzelle, Batterie und Flüssigerdgas – sowohl antriebs- und kraftstoffseitig als auch auf der Infrastrukturseite. So wurde etwa im Dezember 2019 die Nationale Leitstelle Ladeinfrastuktur unter dem Dach der NOW GmbH geründet.
