Recognized as being of public utility, the Henri Capitant Association (www.henricapitant.org) is an international network of continental jurists founded in 1935. A player in the overhaul of the French Civil Code, it was on her initiative that the reform of security law was undertaken, which, at the end of the work of a commission headed by Professor Michel Grimaldi, resulted in the order of 23 March 2006 on security interests. She set up a group chaired by Professor Hugues Périnet-Marquet, which presented a preliminary draft reform of property law on 12 November 2008. Reconnue d’utilité publique, l’Association Henri Capitant (www.henricapitant.org) est un réseau international de juristes continentaux fondé en 1935. Présente dans près de 60 pays représentant l’Europe, l’Amérique, l’Afrique et l’Asie, elle œuvre à la promotion, la diffusion et la modernisation des droits de tradition civiliste. Résolument ouverte, l'Association Henri Capitant s’appuie sur les juristes de tous horizons qui souhaitent participer à ses activités : universitaires, magistrats, avocats, notaires et juristes d'entreprise.
Les travaux de l’Association consistent notamment en Journées internationales annuelles de droit comparé, éditées dans une collection riche de 62 volumes dont beaucoup sont consultables librement en version numérique sur le site partenaire www.pagesdedoctrine.fr.
Elle élabore le Vocabulaire Juridique, dictionnaire juridique de référence internationale longtemps porté par Gérard Cornu dont la 10ème édition vient de paraître et a fondé la première revue tout à la fois bilingue, numérique et gratuite consacrée aux droits de tradition civiliste, Henri Capitant Law Review (www.henricapitantlawreview.org).
Acteur de la refonte du Code civil français, c’est sur son initiative qu’a été entreprise la réforme du droit des sûretés qui, au terme des travaux d’une commission dirigée par le professeur Michel Grimaldi, a abouti à l’ordonnance du 23 mars 2006 relative aux sûretés. Elle a constitué un groupe présidé par le professeur Hugues Périnet-Marquet, qui a présenté le 12 novembre 2008 un avant-projet de réforme du droit des biens. A l'échelon européen, elle a encore participé activement aux travaux relatifs à l’élaboration d’un droit européen des contrats.
