The “#Catalysis for Renewable and Innovative Process” Group (CaRe In Process) of the Industrial Chemistry Department “Toso Montanari”, Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna, is a research group devoted to the development of innovative catalytic #materials as well as alternative, more sustainable, #industrial chemical processes.
The kick-off of the group occurred on 1st November, 1976, with Prof. Ferruccio Trifirò, who gave rise to a significant shift of teaching and research activities towards updated subjects of industrial interest. Other scientists who greatly contributed to the activity of the group were prof. Alfredo Riva, who passed away in 2008, and Angelo Vaccari, who retired in 2018. The aim of the group is to promote a fundamental research on catalysis and innovative materials and processes with a special focus on industrial collaborations and potential applications.
The group is focused on the valorization of renewable resources such as #lignocellulosic #biomass and vegetable oils for the production of green chemicals and #sustainable #fuels, and on the conversion of CO2, not only via the traditional thermochemical processes but also via photo and electrochemical transformations.
