🔎Ce cône strombolien a été choisi à la fin de la seconde guerre mondiale pour l’extraction de ses scories volcaniques. Grâce à cette activité industrielle et à la collaboration avec le monde scientifique, la structure interne du Volcan, patiemment déshabillée de ses roches, est dévoilée aujourd’hui de façon saisissante.
Ainsi, une gigantesque cavité de 10 hectares s’ouvre en entonnoir sur le cœur du volcan, grâce aux 11 paliers d’exploitation qui en découpent les falaises et laissent apparaître les couleurs et les strates.
