We know that if there is no construction without materials, and therefore without destruction and consumption, there is no fair and economical project without redoubled expenditure of imagination. We consider it not only possible but necessary to invent other construction methods: economically and ecologically sober, and therefore rich in meaning and new imaginations. Each context offers a thousand resources that only a fine and systematic analysis can reveal. Each situation is full of objects, memories, living and sedimented materials to use as one magnifies. The accuracy of a project results in our eyes from knowing how to compose with what exists here and now, from knowing how to tell new stories with a present to always re-explore, to better inscribe oneself in it.Original language
Collectif d’architectes fondé en 2001 par Julien Choppin et Nicola Delon, Encore Heureux revendique une pratique généraliste pour concevoir des bâtiments, des installations, des jeux ou des expositions... A la croisée des genres, au travers d’un enthousiasme critique, ils imaginent des conditions et créent des situations pour habiter la complexité du monde. En 2016 Sébastien Eymard rejoint l’aventure comme troisième associé et en 2019 Sonia Vu devient la quatrième associée de l'agence. L’équipe s’agrandit pour rassembler une quinzaine de concepteurs d’horizons variés, pour qu’Encore Heureux rime avec exigence et lucidité, optimisme et engagement...
Nous savons que s’il n’y a pas de construction sans matériaux, et donc sans destruction et consommation, il n’y a pas de projet juste et économe sans dépense redoublée d’imagination. Nous considérons comme non seulement possible mais nécessaire l’invention d’autres modalités de construction : économiquement et écologiquement sobres, et par là même riches de sens et d’imaginaires nouveaux . Chaque contexte offre mille ressources que seule une analyse fine et systématique peut révéler. Chaque situation regorge d’objets, de mémoires, de matières vives et sédimentées à utiliser comme on magnifie. La justesse d’un projet résulte à nos yeux d’un savoir composer avec ce qui existe ici et maintenant, d’un savoir raconter de nouvelles histoires avec un présent à toujours réexplorer, pour mieux s’y inscrire.
