Established in 1970 to manage the intellectual property assets developed at Stanford University.

Stanford University's Office of Technology Licensing (OTL) transfers Stanford innovations from the lab to commercial partners for further development while generating unrestricted income to support research and education. To support the university’s research mission, OTL:

• Evaluates, protects, markets, and licenses the university’s inventions and software
• Supports collaboration with industry, nonprofits, and others
• Provides resources to Stanford research community
