    Voetbal is volkssport nummer één. De KNVB is met meer dan 1,2 miljoen leden de grootste sportbond van Nederland. Wekelijks organiseert de voetbalbond, samen met 3.200 verenigingen, ongeveer 33.000 wedstrijden. Denk ook aan de miljoenen fans van Oranje en de clubs in het betaald voetbal, die allen veel plezier beleven aan het voetbal. Voor al deze mensen speelt voetbal een belangrijke rol. En voor velen geldt waarschijnlijk, net als voor de KNVB: ‘Voetbal is ons leven’.
