La Fondation Innovation et Transitions, précédemment Fondation pour l'Université de Lyon, a pour ambition de favoriser le progrès de la connaissance et de l’innovation en portant des actions soutenues par des acteurs de l’enseignement supérieur et de la recherche et du monde socio-économique. Elle entend contribuer à un développement scientifique, environnemental, social, économique et culturel, équilibré et solidaire sur le territoire, en agissant au service de l’intérêt général.
Afin de remplir son rôle de soutien à l’innovation et aux grandes transitions sur le territoire, la fondation se positionne notamment sur deux grands champs d’actions :
- La mise en oeuvre de projets favorisant l’innovation et mobilisant des acteurs privés et publics (par exemple les Journées de l’économie).
- La mise sous égide de fondations permettant la mise en place de partenariats et de synergies public/privé.
