The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) is the world's most important network on entrepreneurship and aims to make high-quality information on entrepreneurship available to the widest possible audience.

GEM employs primary data collection in a harmonized approach to measure entrepreneurship and the framework conditions believed to be conducive to entrepreneurship. This is essential for international comparisons.
GEM understands entrepreneurship as a process. The GEM variables capture different elements of the entrepreneurial process, ranging from opportunity recognition and entrepreneurial intentions, to the characteristics of nascent entrepreneurship and the established company.
GEM Spain brings together more than 120 specialists in the field of entrepreneurship research from all over the country, who are integrated within an impressive national network of more than 700 entrepreneurship experts.

Red de investigación sobre emprendimiento más fiable del mundo.
El Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) constituye la más importante red mundial sobre emprendimiento y tiene por objetivo hacer que la información de alta calidad sobre la iniciativa emprendedora esté disponible para el mayor público posible.
En el marco de este proyecto global, 19 equipos de investigadores del entorno académico y empresarial de toda España, nucleados en la Asociación RED GEM España, estudian el comportamiento de la dinámica emprendedora a través de múltiples variables y generan datos que publican en informes anuales.

¿Por qué es único?
GEM se centra en el emprendedor individual. La mayoría de las empresas comienzan y están encarnados por un solo individuo, o un pequeño grupo de individuos. Este enfoque coincide con la perspectiva socio-económica del GEM.
GEM emplea una recopilación de datos primarios en un enfoque armonizado para medir la iniciativa emprendedora y las condiciones marco que se cree que son propicias para el emprendimiento. Esto es esencial para realizar comparaciones internacionales.
