Créé le 1er octobre 2000, le Laboratoire d’Informatique de l’Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour ou LIUPPA a reçu le label d’EA (n° 3000) le 1er janvier 2001. Il adresse au sens large les sciences du Numérique avec une activité de recherche appliquée ancrée dans une société de plus en plus numérique et qui s'articule autour :
▪ de la gestion des données (dont la masse ne cesse de croître) hétérogènes, multimédias, et fortement délocalisées (cloud),
▪ des traitements distribués, et
▪ des usages différents (machines, humains).
Les solutions du LIUPPA s’inscrivent dans deux domaines complémentaires :
▪ les sciences et technologies de l’information autour des traitements de l’information (donnée, document, etc.), de la connaissance, et du web, et
▪ le génie logiciel autour de l’ingénierie des modèles, des services et des architectures logicielles.
