The voice of the European obesity community

The European Association for the Study of Obesity represents 36 European nations dedicated to understanding and addressing obesity to improve public health.

EASO considers obesity to be a health, research, and societal priority. We promote the study of obesity as well as working with partners across society to engage in actions that reduce the burden of unhealthy excess weight in Europe through prevention and management.

We are the leading European scientific and practice-based professional membership association in this field. EASO is in formal relations with the WHO Regional Office for Europe and is an active member of EU Commission initiatives including the EU Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health and the Joint Programing Initiative on Healthy Diet Healthy Lives. EASO facilitates and engages in actions that prevent and combat the epidemic of obesity. We contribute to high level European and National scientific consultations, support dynamic and active topic specific Task Forces and Working Groups, and coordinate obesity education across Europe.

We host the largest annual scientific congress on obesity in Europe. Attended by clinicians, surgeons, research scientists, students, industry, young professionals, patients and others.
