The Cancéropôle Grand Ouest (CGO) aims to generate interregional research centers (Brittany, Centre-Val de Loire, Pays de la Loire) visible on a European scale, capable of developing original and specific cancerology programs in their territory.

Le Cancéropôle Grand Ouest (CGO) a pour objectif de générer des pôles de recherches interrégionaux (Bretagne, Centre-Val de Loire, Pays de la Loire) visibles à l'échelle de l'Europe, capables de faire émerger des programmes en cancérologie originaux et spécifiques de leur territoire.
Le CGO fédère des équipes appartenant aux grands organismes de recherches publics (Inserm, CNRS, Ifremer, Inra, CEA...), les université et les services hospitaliers tournés vers l'innovation.
A travers ses actions d'animation et de coordination, l'équipe du CGO incite à l'interdisciplinarité, la mutualisation des compétences, la fédération et la structuration en réseau des équipes, le partage des plates-formes technologiques, la coopération entre recherche fondamentale et académique.
Le Cancéropôle Grand Ouest a pour mission de :
- mieux structurer la recherche sur le cancer en renforçant les liens entre les chercheurs et les médecins,
- favoriser la transformation des connaissances acquises par la recherche en innovations,
- favoriser la recherche dite "de transfert", c'est-à-dire le passage de la recherche fondamentale à la recherche clinique, et
- permettre ainsi aux patients de bénéficier plus rapidement des moyens thérapeutiques les plus innovants et les plus adaptés pour le traitement des cancers.
