    Lithium Sulfur: An Energy Revolution

OXIS Energy is developing a Lithium Sulfur battery chemistry that will revolutionize the rechargeable battery market. With a theoretical energy density 5 times greater than Li-ion, OXIS patented technology is light, safe and is suitable for a wide range of sectors, including aviation, aeronautical, defence and electric vehicles (buses, trucks and light commercial vehicles).
Based at the Culham Science Centre in Oxfordshire, OXIS has been at the forefront of researching Li-S batteries since 2004 and has developed its unique technology around sulfur based cathode materials, highly stable electrolyte systems and lithium anodes. OXIS is well equipped with state of the art production, test and analytical equipment and has one of the largest dry room facilities in Europe. OXIS and its research partners are focusing on the development of the world leading Li-S chemistry that can be used in a wide variety of battery applications.
Full scale cell production is planned at the OXIS manufacturing plant in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The OXIS Li-S cells will be developed, designed and produced to meet the demands of customers and markets.
Innovate UK has recently funded the £7m LiS:FAB project - OXIS's largest to date and will help to transform electric vehicle technology for commercial use.
