Since 26 February 2000, Technopolis has given a permanent character to science communication in Flanders with the Flemish Science and Technology Activity Centre in Mechelen and numerous side activities.
The Flemish Science and Technology Activity Centre in Mechelen is not only the centre of science communication in Flanders, but also the core mission.
However, Technopolis is taking many more initiatives on behalf of the Flemish Government to 'bring science and technology closer to people'. These activities and projects fall under the so-called related assignment.

Alle initiatieven hebben echter één en hetzelfde doel voor ogen: informeren en sensibiliseren betreffende het belang van wetenschap en technologie en de in-, uit- en doorstroom in exacte en toegepaste wetenschappen verhogen.
Technopolis ontwikkelt daarom initiatieven onder het motto:
'Ik hoor en ik vergeet,
ik zie en ik onthoud,
ik doe en ik begrijp'
Sinds 26 februari 2000 geeft Technopolis een permanent karakter aan wetenschapscommunicatie in Vlaanderen met het Vlaamse doe-centrum voor wetenschap en technologie in Mechelen en tal van nevenactiviteiten.
Het Vlaamse doe-centrum voor wetenschap en technologie in Mechelen is niet enkel het middelpunt van wetenschapscommunicatie in Vlaanderen, maar ook de kernopdracht.
Technopolis neemt in opdracht van de Vlaamse Regering echter nog veel meer initiatieven om ‘wetenschap en technologie dichter bij de mens te brengen’. Deze activiteiten en projecten ressorteren onder de zogenaamde aanverwante opdracht.

Technopolis is een plek waar je op een leuke manier van alles over wetenschap en technologie kan ontdekken. Je steekt er de handen uit de mouwen tijdens allerlei workshops, geeft je ogen de kost tijdens fascinerende demo's en shows en je gaat er aan de slag met talloze interactieve opstellingen.
