The Barenboim-Said Akademie offers an unprecedented conservatory education for talented, young musicians from the Middle East, North Africa, and around the world, uniting intensive music performance studies with a grounding in the humanities – all within the heart of historic Berlin.

The pedagogic aims of the Akademie have been set out by Maestro Daniel Barenboim and contextualized intellectual and letterary legacy of Edward Said. Students learn how to critically understand the works of composers of all ages, enriched through their humanities education.

The Akademie offers both an undergraduate Bachelor of Music degree and a post-graduate Artist Diploma program in all orchestral instruments, piano, composition, and conducting.
