The Society of Editors has more than 500 members in national, regional and local newspapers, magazines, broadcasting and new media, journalism education and media law. We campaign for media freedom, self regulation, the public's right to know and the maintenance of high standards in journalism and diversity in newsrooms.

Our mission is to safeguard the universal right to freedom of expression, advocate the importance of an active and trusted news media in a democratic society, protect press and broadcasting freedom, guard the public’s right to know, promote and commit to high editorial standards and encourage diversity and inclusion at all levels across in the media.
