The Shanghai Ranking Consultancy is the official publisher of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) - the most respected international ranking of research universities.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) is conducted by researchers at the Center for World-Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (CWCU). The CWCU has been focusing on the study of world-class universities for many years.

The ARWU or Shanghai Ranking was first published in 2003, it was the first international ranking of universities and remains the most respected until this day.
