La actual Academia Española de Dermatología y Venereología (AEDV) nació en 1909, con el nombre de Sociedad Española de Dermatología y Sifiliografía, a la vez que su revista Actas Dermo-Sifiliográficas.
Es una institución centenaria que ha pretendido desde sus inicios representar e integrar a los dermatólogos españoles y ser un referente de la especialidad tanto en el territorio español como fuera de él.
Anualmente, AEDV organiza reuniones nacionales de sus secciones y grupos de trabajo, organiza cursos y formación on-line (Auladerma) para sus miembros.
